Choosing a boxing gloves manufacturer is one of the biggest decisions a combat-sports brand, gym or retailer makes. The gloves carry your name, they take a beating every day, and your customers will judge your whole business by how they feel after a month of bag work. A good supplier makes that easy. A poor one costs you returns, reviews and reorders.
This checklist walks through what to evaluate before you place an order, whether you're launching a private-label line, outfitting a gym, or adding boxing gloves to a sporting-goods store. It's written from the manufacturer's side of the table, so you'll know which questions get you real answers.
1. Start with what you actually need
Before you contact any custom boxing gloves supplier, write down your own brief. Suppliers can only quote accurately when they know what you want, and a clear brief makes it easy to compare offers side by side.
- Who uses the gloves? Beginners in fitness classes, amateur boxers sparring, MMA fighters, or kids' programs all need different weights and padding.
- Price point. Retail price and margin decide whether you need genuine leather or PU (synthetic leather).
- Weights and sizes. Most training ranges cover 8oz to 16oz; MMA and grappling styles start at 4oz.
- Closure. Hook-and-loop wrist straps suit gyms and classes; lace-up closures suit competition and serious sparring.
- Branding. Logo placement, colorways, printed graphics, and retail packaging.
- Quantities. Per model, per weight, per color.
If you're unsure about any of these, a good manufacturer will help you decide. Our guide to genuine leather vs PU boxing gloves and the boxing glove sizes and weights guide cover the two decisions buyers ask about most.
2. Check materials and construction, not just photos
Product photos all look similar. What separates a glove that lasts from one that splits at the seams is inside: the shell, the padding, the stitching and the lining. Ask every supplier to explain how their gloves are built.
Shell material
- Genuine leather is durable, molds to the hand over time and suits premium price points.
- PU (synthetic leather) is lighter on budget, easy to wipe clean, and takes bright colors, metallic and printed finishes well.
A supplier who works with both can help you build a range with entry-level and premium tiers. For example, our custom leather training boxing gloves and royal blue hook-and-loop PU gloves target very different customers from the same production line.
Padding and comfort details
Ask how the padding is layered and shaped, and whether the glove includes:
- molded or contoured knuckle padding
- a contoured thumb and pre-curved fist shape
- palm ventilation (perforations or mesh)
- a moisture-wicking lining
Stitching and seams
Look at the seams around the thumb and cuff, the points that fail first on cheap gloves. Ask whether panels are double-stitched, and check the sample by flexing the glove repeatedly at those points.
3. Insist on a sample, and treat it as the contract
Never move to bulk production without a sample made to your exact specification. The sample is how you check:
- Fit and feel: the hand compartment, the thumb position, the wrist support.
- Weight: put it on a scale. A glove sold as 12oz should weigh close to 12oz.
- Branding: logo size, position, color and finish.
- Workmanship: stitching, edges, closure strength.
Once you approve the sample, it becomes the reference for the bulk order. Ask the manufacturer to confirm that production will match it. At Malqor International, sample time is confirmed in your quote, as it depends on the model and customization.
4. Understand MOQ, pricing and lead time
Three numbers decide whether a supplier fits your business:
- MOQ (minimum order quantity). Factories set MOQs because every material, color and logo needs setup. Ask whether the MOQ applies per model, per color or per weight. Our MOQ is set per model and level of customization, and confirmed in your quote.
- Unit price. Make sure quotes are comparable: same material, same branding, same packaging, same shipping terms.
- Lead time. Bulk production time is confirmed in your quote, based on order size and customization at Malqor. Add shipping time on top: we typically deliver worldwide in 7–14 business days depending on destination and order size.
A supplier who answers these clearly and in writing is usually one who will run your order clearly too.
5. Evaluate customization and private-label capability
If you're building a brand, the gloves need to look like your product, not a catalog item with a sticker. Ask what can be customized:
- Logo application: at Malqor, logos are applied by a method chosen to suit the glove's material and your artwork.
- Colorways: shell, trim, cuff and lining colors.
- Graphics: printed panels, metallic finishes, two-tone designs.
- Construction: closure type, weight range, padding layout.
- Packaging: branded boxes or bags, labels and inserts.
